Hedge funds that invest in long/short equities funds in Asian emerging markets recorded losses for the first half of this year, but still outperformed many of the corresponding markets they invested in, according to latest research.

Data provider Hedge Fund Research said that long/short equities funds saw 13.8% losses to the half-year to June 30, compared to the 19.52% gain in the first six months of 2007.
