Asian telecom giant aims for $1.5bn flotation

Hutchison Whampoa, the Asian mobile and fixed line operator, plans to raise up to $1.5bn (€1.2bn) from a flotation of its international telecom operations in Hong Kong and New York next month - a tenfold increase on its $100m regulatory filing.

Goldman Sachs is sole lead manager on the IPO for the company, which is now planning to spin off its international assets including mobile phone operations in India and Israel into a new entity called Hutchison Telecommunications International.
