The decision by Ask Central, the pizza and pasta restaurant operator listed on the Alternative Investment Market, not to press ahead with a full stock market listing could spark a trend among smaller UK companies.

Martin Eckersley, Ask Central's finance director, said that the company was deferring plans to seek a full listing on the London Stock Exchange because of favourable tax changes announced in the March budget.
