Asset managers: Time to cut the cost of selling funds

FN's asset management panel concedes fees are too high for a low-return environment, but argues the way funds are sold by banks and insurers is part of the problem

Asset managers concede that investors are paying too much for their savings to be invested in a low-return market - but they argue the cost of selling funds, as opposed to managing them, needs to fall.

The costs of distributing asset managers' products was a area of focus at FN's January 26 briefing on the outlook for the investment industry in 2017, with the panel chaired by FN columnist David Wighton.
