AssetCo and Premier Miton table bids for River & Mercantile

River & Mercantile said any deal was conditional on the completion of the sale of its solutions business to Schroders

A tie-up with AssetCo would be the latest transaction secured by chair Martin Gilbert, the fund management veteran who set up the deals company earlier this year, and who is also deputy chair of R&M

River & Mercantile, the £47.6bn UK-listed asset manager, has been approached by Premier Miton and AssetCo with separate offers to buy the business — a deal which would add to a growing list of mergers and acquisitions in the fund management sector this year.

In a statement issued on the London Stock Exchange on 23 November, River & Mercantile said any deal was conditional on the completion of the proposed sales of its solutions business, which Schroders announced it would buy in October.
