Attractive returns power energy trading contracts

Rapid expansion is leading to fears of overcrowding

The number of hedge funds that are trading energy contracts has risen from 10 to 140 in three years, according to service providers and investors.

The growth, which shows no sign of slackening, has far outstripped the rise in crude oil futures prices, which have almost trebled in the period.
