The Carlyle Group, the global private equity firm, has brought in James Attwood from Verizon Communications, the US telecoms group.

Attwood, former executive vice-president of strategy, development and planning at Verizon, joins Carlyle as managing director and head of its global telecommunications and media investment team. He will be based in the New York office.
