Auditors to feel heat as FRC cracks down

FRC unveils far-reaching reform programme for the audit market in a bid to stave off calls for the watchdog's own dissolution

The UK’s auditors are to face a wide-ranging review of their ethics and practices, as well as beefed-up inspections from their regulator, as the watchdog fights back against charges it dropped the ball over the collapses of Carillion, BHS and Tata Steel.

Among other things, the review will look at whether auditors should be banned from undertaking lucrative consulting work for the firms they inspect.
