Aviva's European chief switches to rival

The European chief executive of Aviva is leaving the UK insurance giant to become the finance director at Prudential, the domestic rival it failed to acquire last year.

Tidjane Thiam will take up the post of chief financial officer at Prudential next April. He is succeeding Philip Broadley, who will remain on Prudential's board for a handover period before leaving at the group's annual general meeting in May.
