The UK's £1.3bn (€1.9bn) Kent County Council pension fund has appointed Baillie Gifford to run a £180m overseas equity portfolio as part of a reshuffle of its assets.

The Edinburgh-based independent fund manager enjoys strong support from investment consultants, particularly for its equity products. The firm has recently stepped up the marketing of its overseas equity offering and estimates that its UK and overseas equity business wins are running about equal.
