Baird Capital fund handed secondary market boost

The 'stapled secondary/primary' deal involves the sale of existing fund stakes to a secondary investor on the condition of further commitments to a new fund

UK mid-market private equity firm Baird Capital has turned to a secondary transaction to boost its latest European fundraising effort, according to three people familiar with the situation.

The secondaries teams of investment bank Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan Asset Management have acquired some of the existing investor commitments to Baird's first fund, and invested further primary capital in Baird Capital Partners Europe II, the London-based firm's new fund, two of the people said.
