BancBoston Capital, the private equity investment arm of FleetBoston Financial Corporation, is boosting its technology and communications group with two new appointments.

Bernard de Backer is joining the London-based team and will have responsibility for developing investment opportunities in broadband communications in Europe. Before joining de Backer was at Columbia University.
