Chancellor Rachel Reeves has appointed a senior investment banker at Bank of America to a key role in the Treasury.

Jim O’Neil, the Wall Street lender’s head of Emea corporate and investment banking, will leave to become the second permanent secretary to the Treasury in July, the government said in a statement.
