UK regulators have set out plans to put data at the centre of their supervision strategy for the City of London, with the aim of helping them spot problems before they occur.

The changes were announced by the Bank of England and the Financial Conduct Authority in a series of statements and discussion papers on 7 January, and follow a pledge in October by Andrew Bailey, the FCA chief executive, to increase spending on data analytics.
