UK regulators have sent a clear message to the country's banks that they expect bonus payments to top management to be scrapped during the coronavirus crisis.

Following a decision by the UK's largest banks to heed regulators' calls to halt dividend payments and share buybacks in the current climate, the Bank of England's Prudential Regulation Authority said it “also expects banks not to pay any cash bonuses to senior staff, including all material risk takers”.
