The Bank of England has said the greater proportion of men in senior roles at the central bank is to blame for a 24% gender pay gap, just over a month after it came under fire for a lack of diversity in its top ranks.
In its gender pay gap report, published today, the Bank of England revealed a median gap of 24% between the pay of its male and female employees; men at the central bank receive bonuses that are on average 25.6% higher than those for women working at the institution.
