A decision on whether to build a UK central bank digital currency is still years away, the Bank said

The Bank of England has warned that the UK should not expect to launch a central bank digital currency before “the second half of this decade”.

Policymakers at Threadneedle Street said several years still lie ahead before it is prepared to take a final decision on whether to develop a UK CBDC, which has been colloquially referred to as Britcoin.
