The Bank of England has signed up to the Treasury's Women in Finance Charter as the government steps up its focus on diversity within the UK's financial services.

The central bank's move was announced by Jayne-Anne Gadhia, CEO of Virgin Money and the government's women in finance champion, at a hearing for a cross-party committee of MPs. A person familiar with the matter said the central bank had signed up in recent weeks.
