Workers at the Bank of England have begun three days of strike action over pay, donning face masks of governor Mark Carney during a demonstration outside the central bank this morning.

The Labour Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, John McDonnell (pictured below), attended the picket line to show his support for the strike, which began at 8.15am. Bank staff were holding placards and flags reading – ‘Bank of England staff deserve fair pay’.
