BoE warns companies of rising interest rate risks

The UK's central bank tells banks and other financial firms to prepare for interest rate rises after a week of market turmoil

The Bank of England on Wednesday told banks and other financial firms to ensure they can cope with any sudden rise in interest rates, following a week of market turmoil triggered by investor jitters that an era of ultra-low rates and abundant central bank cash may be coming to an end.

The UK central bank also recommended the authorities test the resilience of the financial system to cyber attacks, which it said have become increasingly frequent and sophisticated.
