The Bank of New York has hired Anthony Conroy from Merrill Lynch Investment Managers as managing director and head trader for its brokerage business.

The hire comes as part of the bank's focus on growing its agency brokerage business, which it founded two years ago alongside several agency trading and research businesses. The business, BNY Brokerage, is run by Carey Pack.
