The Bank of New York has won the mandate for Barclays' American Depositary Receipt (ADR) programme, making the US bank the depositary for all UK banks listed in the US.

These include HSBC, Lloyds Bank and Abbey National. ADRs are securities which allow shares in foreign companies to be traded and settled in the US like a domestic US stock.
