Bankers cash in as governments cash out

Four of the five largest equity capital markets transactions of the year are based on financial institutions repaying state aid or government's reducing their holdings in the sector

Europe's listless equity capital markets have been given a shot in the arm by transactions involving financial institutions repaying government debt - or governments cashing out stakes - driving ECM activity in the region to its highest level since the beginning of the financial crisis.
