Thomas Chambers, Symbian's CFO, would much rather be interviewed in a meeting room than his own office. "It's a terrible mess," he explains. But his reluctance inspires my curiosity and, undeterred by the news that we'll both have to forgo coffee as there's no machine on his floor, we enter his office. In fact, it's not that much of a mess, but what instantly strikes the eye is the quantity of paper in the room, which is dominated by mountains of it covering almost the whole floor.
It is an odd sight in a company whose mission is to make us all communicate electronically â via mobile devices running on Symbian's operating system: so much for the paperless office.
