Senior bankers are putting pressure on all the European clearing and settlement systems to move as quickly as possible to create a single clearing system and a central counterparty which allows netting and lowers costs.

They want to ensure that clearing and settlement systems are consolidated but not integrated so that there are three separate platforms for trading, clearing and settlement.
