Bankgesellschaft Berlin will look to shareholders to stump up €2bn ($1.7bn), after revealing that misreporting the accounts on its real estate funds cost it €1.6bn.

The capital increase would double the market capitalisation of the German banking group, which is now at €1.9bn.
