Women traders sceptical of 'culture' shift

Female traders welcome calls for greater diversity on the trading floor but warn that this alone will not lead to major cultural change at banks

Female traders and consultants have welcomed the Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards' call for more women traders, but remain sceptical on whether increased gender diversity alone can lead to a strong shift in trading floor culture.

Among its slew of recommendations for the banking industry, the 571-page report suggested that, just as increased gender diversity would be beneficial for the boardroom, "so it should be on the trading floor".
