Banks cut back bond business

Three investment banks have closed parts of their bond business in the clearest sign yet that fixed-income divisions are sharing the pain of the downturn in investment banking.

BNP Paribas last week folded its global emerging market debt business into the wider credit group with the loss of an estimated 12 to 15 jobs in the US and Europe.
