Banks have 24 hours to rescue China Telecom IPO

Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch have until Wednesday evening to rescue China Telecom's initial public offering (IPO) after reducing the number of shares on offer by more than 50%.

The two bookrunners are relaunching the high-profile IPO. It means that China Telecom will raise $1.4bn (€1.4bn) to $1.7bn after trying to raise about $3.4bn the first time around.
