Banks lending most to polluters are making the most noise about ESG, says ECB

European banks talking the biggest game about being environmentally friendly are doing the most new lending to the biggest polluters, according to a blog post by the European Central Bank.

Published on the central bank's website during the COP28 climate summit in Dubai, the article says lenders with the highest volume of environmental disclosures have invested 4% more new loans in brown companies than other banks.
