Banks quote rock star prices in rushed research deals

Talks to agree a price for investment research – which has to be sold separately under looming European Union rules – have taken a chaotic turn.

From near silence until less than a month ago, negotiations between investments banks and other firms that sell the research, and asset managers, who buy it, have erupted in April as both sides realise time is running out to agree their deals.
