Andy Barber, senior consultant at Mercer Investment Consulting, has been promoted to run the European fund manager research operation, which is one of the most influential in the region.

Barber said one of his early priorities will be to develop research into alternative investments, including single strategy hedge funds, in which pension fund clients are displaying increased interest following recent market turbulence.
