Merrill Lynch has taken one of Barclays Capital's most senior bond syndicate bankers, as the US firm continues its assault on reclaiming its former leading position in the European primary debt capital markets.

Marco Baldini, formerly a director of Barclays' corporate bond syndicate in London, is set to join Merrill Lynch on May 25 after resigning last Friday from the UK bank.
