Barclays Capital has hired a new head of financial sponsors coverage for Europe, the Middle East and Africa from Nomura, marking the latest of a number of former senior Lehman Brothers bankers the UK investment bank and Japanese broker have cherry picked from each other in the past year.

Matt Grinnell, formerly co-head of European financial sponsors coverage at Nomura, which bought most of Lehman Brothers' European and Asian investment banking businesses last year, will run Barclays' Emea financial sponsors coverage team, reporting to Kevin Wall and John Miller.
