Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank, has promoted Gerard LaRocca to chief executive of Barclays Capital Inc, the company's US-based broker-dealer.

He will be based in New York and reports to Grant Kvalheim, co-president of Barclays Capital and regional head of the Americas, and Rich Ricci, chief operating officer.
