Barclays Capital, the debt-focused investment bank, has hired Jon Exley from Mercer Investment Consulting, one of the UK's top pension fund consultants, for a senior distribution role in its European team.

Exley, who spent 19 years at Mercer and was most recently a European partner at the firm, joined Barclays Capital this week as a director in the insurance and pensions solutions team in London.
