Barclays Capital has appointed a hybrid bond specialist to head its convertibles origination team in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, where new capital requirements are expected to deliver a boom in issuance of more innovative debt by financial institutions.

The bank has appointed Steven Halperin, a managing director in its Americas equity-linked and hybrid solutions business, as head of Emea convertibles origination, according to sources familiar with the appointment.
