Sherborne Investors, the activist investor pushing for change at Barclays, has called for the ousting of the bank’s chief executive over his past business links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In a letter to shareholders, published on 2 March, Sherborne said a decision by the Barclays board to nominate Jes Staley for re-election as chief executive amid a regulatory probe was “ill advised”.
