Barclays’ activist foe Sherborne swings to £200m loss — and vows to keep pressure on UK bank

Activist's listed Guernsey fund has followed Barclays' share price down this year

Sherborne Investors, the activist fund run by Edward Bramson and one of the biggest shareholders in Barclays, reported a £195m loss for the first half of 2020 — but said it was planning to keep up pressure on the bank.

The loss compares to a £1.18m profit over the same period a year ago. Published on 20 August, half-year results for Sherborne Investors (Guernsey) C Limited, the listed fund controlled by the activist, showed its net asset value dropped 35.7% between 31 December 2019 and 30 June 2020, to £351m.
