MTS, the electronic trading platform for government paper, has boosted its presence in Irish Government bonds after signing up Barclays Capital and Schroder Salomon Smith Barney as market makers to its MTS Ireland trading facility.

MTS introduced Irish government paper to its electronic trading network in July and daily turnover volumes have since peaked at 195 million. The addition completed its coverage of all Eurozone countries on the MTS network.
