Barclays has appointed 100 investment bankers in Europe as part of an aggressive push by the UK banking giant to bolster its position in the EU ahead of Brexit, according to people close to the situation.

The bank, which has come under criticism from some investors for being too exposed to the UK, has made the appointments through a combination of external hires and internal moves. Barclays has also brought in a further 65 graduates in the region.
