Barclays has issued another public rebuke of Edward Bramson and his plans to take a board seat and force through change at its investment bank, saying the activist investor has a “simplistic and flawed” understanding of the business.

The upbraiding follows a letter Bramson sent to fellow Barclays shareholders earlier this week, in which he pleaded once more for them to elect him to the board at next month’s annual general meeting.
