Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of the UK's Barclays Bank, has recruited Andrew Witney, former managing director of the technology division of UBS, as it continues the expansion of its electronic trading business.

He is taking on the new role of head of IT for commodities, foreign exchange, emerging markets and money markets with responsibility for the development of electronic trading platforms.
