Barclays Capital, the investment banking arm of the UK firm, has hired a managing director as it opened a Toronto office to build its Canadian sales division.

Canadian sales were previously handled by Barclay's New York and London offices. Sandra Godard will manage distribution for Barclays Canada and will be responsible for developing client initiatives in the Canadian market.
