The chief executive of Barclays Jes Staley has marked the one year anniversary of the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis with an open letter to the bank’s staff.

In his 25 May letter, Staley called Floyd’s killing at the hands of a police officer: “A tragic moment that deeply affected so many people and opened the eyes of the world, amplifying the need for immediate social change.”
