Barclays chairman John McFarlane has moved to quash speculation he could be about to stand down, telling shareholders in the UK bank: "You are not getting rid of me yet."

Speaking at the bank's annual general meeting in London on Tuesday, McFarlane, who became chairman in 2015, said he would remain in his post for at least another year.
