Barclays has confirmed the appointment of a new global equities chief from JPMorgan, putting him in charge of a trading arm that has been the focus of a recent activist campaign against the bank.

Fater Belbachir, former global head of volatility trading and structuring at JPMorgan, will lead Barclays’ equities business across cash, derivatives, prime and syndicate, the bank said on June 4.
