Barclays has recruited a lead equity strategist for Europe from JPMorgan, filling a high-profile role at a time when banks' research teams are under pressure as never before.

Emmanuel Cau, a global equity strategist at the Wall Street bank, where he has been for 13 years, will join Barclays' London office in June, according to a spokeswoman. He will report to Rupert Jones, head of European equity research.
