Barclays creates new equities role in Emea

UK group appoints a former Rothschild banker as head of cash equities in Emea, just days after its new CEO signalled his commitment to the universal banking model

The investment banking division of Barclays has created the new role of regional head of cash equity markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, just days after the UK group's new chief executive indicated his commitment to the universal banking model.

Ralf Nachtigall, a 20-year equities veteran, will join the UK bank in October as a managing director and head of cash equity capital markets in Emea. He was previously vice-chairman of equity advisory at NM Rothschild.
