Barclays investment bank posted record results in 2021, following Wall Street rivals, as dealmaking hit new highs last year.

The UK lender’s corporate and investment bank posted profit of £5.8bn in 2021, an increase of 46% as dealmaking fees and equity trading revenues hit fresh highs. However, the bank’s larger fixed income unit fell by 33% to £3.4bn, a sharper decline than many of its Wall Street rivals.
